Student Evaluation and Grading Policy

Quarterly grades will be determined following the District and FL guidelines of:

            90 – 100% A
            80 – 89%   B
            70 – 79%   C
            60 – 69%   D
            0 – 59%     F

Within these guidelines, quarterly grades will be calculated as follows: 60% tests and other assessments; 20% quizzes; 15% homework/classwork and 5% notebook.  Extra credit will be given with tests and quizzes at the discretion of the instructor.

Homework Policy: Homework will be assigned and reviewed first thing during each class meeting.  Students should complete the homework daily in preparation for the review on the
following class meeting time.  This will allow students the opportunity to check for mastery and ask for clarity prior to any assessments.  Students will be allowed one late homework assignment per quarter for 80% credit.  A perfect homework assignment for the quarter will allow the student to drop two of the lowest quizzes for that quarter.  Student with ten completed homework assignments will earn a free homework pass.  Homework pass may be redeemed for 100% homework credit.  Student with two homework passes may trade in for a quiz pass.  Quiz pass may be redeemed for 100% quiz credit.

Make-up Policy: Make-up work will be the responsibility of the student.  For excused absences, school policy dictates that students have one day for each day absent in which to make up work.  This does not include the first day of return.  Schedule time to make up tests and quizzes immediately upon your return.  Tests and quizzes must be made up before the next scheduled test.  Do not let time deadlines expire.  If the absence if unexcused, make-up work will not be accepted and a grade of zero will be assigned.

Major Projects: To be determined.

Supplies: Textbook, supplemental workbook, 3-ring binder, notebook paper, pencils/colored pencils, ruler, ¼-inch graph paper, and scientific calculator (a graphing calculator is not required until Algebra II.  TI 84 is then recommended.)

Student Responsibilities: In order to be successful, students should report to class promptly, be prepared with all required supplies daily, limit absences, follow school policies and procedures, maintain sufficient rate of progress, dress appropriately, and abide by the school code of conduct.  Restroom passes will be limited to the end of the period to minimize disruptions of academic instruction.
